Evaluations
I provide evaluations for learning disorders, attention and executive functioning deficits, autism spectrum disorder, psychological disorders, and other conditions. Some situations that may indicate the need for an evaluation include:
- If a child or adolescent is having a difficult time with reading, mathematics, written expression or other aspects of school work, an evaluation for a Specific Learning Disorder may be appropriate.
- If an individual is having difficulty managing anxiety, depression, and other emotional pressures, especially if it is related to school or homework, an evaluation can help distinguish between emotional disorders and a Specific Learning Disorder.
- Attention and executive functioning deficits may often be confused with anxiety or depressive disorders and an evaluation can help to effectively diagnose the correct disorder and treatment.
- If a child struggles with social communication and social interaction, parents may want an evaluation to distinguish between a number of disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder and ADHD, among other disorders.
Once a diagnosis is made, treatment recommendations and school accommodations are provided in a detailed written report and explained to parents (if a child or adolescent was evaluated) or to the college student or adult that was evaluated.
